Canaries linked with Peckham Beckham

Nigel Worthington looks likely to take advantage of some goodwill between East Anglia and East London as he was linked with another West Ham United player.

According to various internet sources, Elliott Ward, brother of former Norwich target Darren Ward, is high on the wanted list of those in charge at Carrow Road. The defender, whose partnership with Anton Ferdinand powered the Hammers into the Premiership via the play-offs 12 months ago, is famed for his resemblance to England captain David Beckham, having been dubbed the 'Peckham Beckham'. Ward was loaned to Plymouth Argyle last season after his first team opportunities were limited by the arrival of Welsh internationals Daniel Gabbidon and James Collins from Cardiff City.

Ward is the second of Alan Pardew's players to be rumoured to be Norfolk bound, with former Stoke man Clive Clarke also strongly linked. There is likely to be a large amount of goodwill between the clubs after the success of Dean Ashton's record transfer to Upton Park, which contributed to an FA Cup Final appearance and UEFA Cup qualification, which in turn earned the Canaries more as part of the deal.
