The Daily Mirror has reported that West Ham United are determined to get Dean Ashton and are preparing an £8million bid.

City are said to want the fee because of Crewe Alexandra, the player's former club, being entitled to a 20 percent share of any profit on a man signed for £3million from Gresty Road a year ago.

The Canaries are said to have Cardiff City's Cameron Jerome lined up as a replacement, with £3.5million expected to be enough for the dazzling rookie.
