Ricketts rumour a hoax

With the rumour mill in full swing, it is easy to be taken in by the proliferation of players linked for whatever reason with moves in and out of various clubs.

With apparently no more motivation than to wind people up, a Bradford City fan saw fit to create web pages linking Bantams goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts with a move to Carrow Road as a replacement for the injured Robert Green. Eagle-eyed message board users have exposed the rumour as a hoax.

Norwich City Mad find ourselves in elite company in making such a mistake. Just a few years ago, a tabloid newspaper used a Clubcall story concerning a character from Sky One's Dream Team and a potential move to Liverpool. French defender Didier Baptiste was duly linked in print to the nation with an £8million switch to Anfield, despite the fact that he was entirely fictional.
