Agent scuppers Clingan deal - for now

Northern Ireland international Sammy Clingan remains a Norwich player for the moment thanks to the actions of his agent.

Coventry manager Chris Coleman has revealed that a deal to buy the player for a suspected £700,000 was all but completed between the two clubs when Clingan's agent submitted a demand for payment from the Sky Blues.

Coleman baulked at the fee for what he described as no service, and was backed by his Chairman, who pulled the plug on the deal.

Reports have suggested it could be revived, but that will depend on the stance of both clubs and the agent. The sooner the better will be the case for Bryan Gunn, who could do with the cash to continue rebuilding his squad.
