Ameobi link resurfaces

Newcastle United's out-of-favour striker Shola Ameobi has again been touted as a transfer target for ex-Toon boss Glenn Roeder.

Roeder's assertion that he needs big, athletic players would seem to fit in with a player an approach for whom he has already been knocked back by Kevin Keegan during the January transfer window.

Newcastle have the likes of Michael Owen, Obafemi Martins and Mark Viduka, as well as Alan Smith in their ranks, and Ameobi has rarely featured since Roeder departed towwards the end of last season.

NewcastleunitedMad has Roeder already in discussions over a permanent move for Ameobi in the summer.
