Blades win secures award

Norwich boss Nigel Worthington will be shown collecting a well-earned crystal football on Sky Sports Gillette Soccer Saturday this afternoon for his side's victory over Sheffield United on Boxing Day. The 3-1 win, which brought an end to the Blades' unbeaten home record, was recognised by the League Managers' Association panel of Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Barry Fry, Dave Bassett and Ipswich Town boss Joe Royle as the F & C performance of the week. City fans will hope the award does not come as a curse for the resurgent Canaries. Goalkeeper Robert Green has put their run of form down to a seige mentality fostered by the feeling that everybody was against the club. Four wins on the trot should have replaced this determination with the confidence that has been lacking since the morale-sapping 6-0 defeat at Fulham that confirmed relegation from the Premiership.
