City linked with Irish striker

Glenn Roeder will be following tonight's Champions League qualifier between Dinamo Zagreb and Linfield at Belfast's Windsor Park very closely if reports in Belfast Today are to be believed.

Roeder has been linked with a swoop for Linfield's 24-year-old striker Peter Thompson and, despite interest from League One Stockport County and Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock, Norwich look set to land the frontman in a deal worth around £100,000.

It looks inevitable that Thompson will move to England or Scotland, with former Norwich boss Nigel Worthington, now in charge of his native Northern Ireland, adamant that the player must decide soon.

Linfield's board insisted that the player would be involved in tonight's crucial game, and that any transfer decision would be made with the full approval of the board.
