City vying to bounce back

Previous play-off losers have found it hard to overcome the disappointment in the following season, with 2000 runners-up Barnsley experiencing a mid-table season before relegation in the campaign just ended, while Preston's slow start this time around ultimately cost them a play-off place.
Several City players said afterwards that they would be out to emulate the likes of Ipswich, Bolton and Birmingham, who all recovered from previous play-off disappointments to come back and win promotion - with Town and Birmingham losing in three successive years before finally going up.
Norwich should be helped by being able to keep the bulk of their squad together, while other clubs have seen their play-off disappointments end in bigger clubs taking their pick of their best players.
With City's efforts more of a team thing, they do not have one or two players who stand out head and shoulders above the rest who otherwise might have attracted the attention of Premiership or First Division sides.
The fans will be as disappointed as the players, but they have shown through the seven seasons in Division One that they will turn out to back their men, with several gates of around 20,000 in this past season.
Attendances will be hit by redevelopment of the South Stand next season, assuming it receives all the necessary planning consents, but no doubt the stadium will still be full to capacity more often than not.
