Cort the latest casualty

Injury-plagued striker Carl Cort has left Carrow Road by mutual consent following his brief spell as a Norwich player.

Cort was brought out of semi-retirement by Glenn Roeder following an injury nightmare that stalled a career that once saw him command a £7million fee.

He started 13 matches for the Canaries, scored once and made five substitute appearances. His role as a target man saw him win some plaudits, but injury caught up with him late in the season and saw him play no role in the final couple of months.

Cort joins Mark Fotheringham, Robert Eagle and David Marshall as early departures following the club's relegation to League One.
