Defender's form could lead to international call

Norwich's on-loan Celtic star John Kennedy could be set for the mixed blessing of an international recall, according to reports.

Kennedy, 25, has impressed in the Norwich defence alongside former Fulham and Portsmouth man Dejan Stefanovic since joining on loan until January. The Canaries' boss Glenn Roeder is expected to try to either extend the loan or make it permanent in the next transfer window.

By then, however, he may have to pay for a current international defender. Kennedy has 1 Scotland cap to his name, made as a 20-year-old. The March 2004 clash with Romania will have mixed memories for the Bellshill born lad, however, as he sustained an injury which kept him out of the game until April 2007.

George Burley is likely to keep an eye on events in East Anglia as a former Ipswich player and manager, with Norwich goalkeeper David Marshall already part of the squad.
