Doncaster - City made a huge number of enquiries

As promised, Norwich Chief Executive Neil Doncaster has spoken of the club's dealings during the transfer window. Those who were hoping for a list of names and numbers, however, remain disappointed.

Loan players Dickson Etuhu and Carl Robinson joined the club on a permanent basis, Jonatan Johansson and Zesh Rehman signed on loan, and Robert Earnshaw somersaulted through the transfer window as it slammed shut. Oh, and Dean Ashton left. Doncaster, however, revealed that they were by no means the only targets.

"Over the course of January, both before and after Dean's departure, we made a huge number of enquiries about players," he told the official website.

"Some led to offers being made, others didn't. We made a number of offers for certain Championship players, but all these came to nothing as we were told they would each cost between £3.5 and £4million!"
