Etuhu strike edges out Cobblers

Former Preston midfielder Dickson Etuhu gave Nigel Worthington a win to erase the memory of the midweek defeat to Newcastle.

Etuhu scored his first goal for the Canaries in the 25th minute, latching onto a Paul McVeigh cross to fire home after Carl Robinson had set the diminutive forward away down the wing. Robinson was playing in place of the injured Andy Hughes in the right flank position expected to be occupied by new signing Lee Croft.

City created numerous chances against John Gorman's visitors but close shaves from McVeigh and Robert Earnshaw and a penalty appeal for a foul on Darren Huckerby failed to yield any more goals.

City will now concentrate on their opening week of the Championship season, starting next Saturday at Elland Road before the visits of Preston North End the following Tuesday and Luton Town the following Saturday.
