Fifteen could leave - Roeder

Norwich boss Glenn Roeder reaffirmed his commitment to the club last night and his desire to put them back where they belong.

Speaking after his side's 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road against a direct Watford side flying high in the table, Roeder defended his use of the loan system and said he would tap up his pals in the Premier League again in future.

The Canaries currently have six players on loan from the top flight, although it was Jamie Cureton who scored last night's equaliser, his third in successive matches. These six will leave in the summer along with the likes of Darren Huckerby and Dion Dublin, and Roeder knows he has a job on his hands.

"We are one of the top Championship clubs," he said. "I found them in a mess with eight points and we're gradually sorting it out slowly but surely. Rome wasn't built in a day and nor was Norwich.

"I am quite fed up with how low a profile we have. It is my job to change that. I want that responsibility where we are expected to win promotion and whether we can do it in one hit we will have to wait and see.

"Unfortunately, or fortunately, we will probably be losing up to 15 players in the new season, including the six loans. The key to the turnaround in fortunes has been the loan players that we have managed to secure."

Roeder takes his team to Coventry City's Ricoh Arena at the weekend where they will hope to push themselves back into the top half of the table. When City visited Coventry last they were marooned at the bottom of the Championship before Roeder's improbable revival of the Canaries' fortunes.
