Bryan Gunn's first team coach Ian Crook has made his Australian connections pay already by bringing former Sydney FC midfielder David Carney on loan from Sheffield United.
Carney, 25, an Australian international, has joined on loan for the rest of the season. He has played only once this season for Kevin Blackwell's side.
Carney will not be a name to set the pulses racing, but comes with a glowing recommendation from Crook and having begun his career as a trainee with Everton. He is left-footed and is reported to have an eye for goal.
