Former Prem striker signs

Norwich have signed former £7million striker Carl Cort on a deal until the end of the season.

Cort, 31, who began his career at Wimbledon, last played in England for Leicester City, who he joined from Wolves, before a spell in Spain with UD Marbella. He was a £7million signing for Newcastle back in the days of Bobby Robson.

Cort's career had stalled with a serious knee injury, and he has spent time getting fit and training with Norwich prior to his surprise signing. He has been given squad number 29 and could be in the squad for tomorrow's trip to Watford.

The news coincides with Glenn Roeder admitting that Antoine Sibierski looks likely to return to Wigan in January, when it had been expected that he might stay at Carrow Road.
