Gill named skipper in homecoming

Fakenham lad Matthew Gill will captain Norwich on his debut tonight in his home town.

Gill, 29, is the only established name in Ian Crook's squad, with Bryan Gunn and Ian Butterworth taking a more experienced gang to Dartford on Saturday.

Paul McVeigh, as expected, will be given a chance to impress and improve his fitness along with other trialists Takura Mtandari, Troy Powell, Nicholas Chrysantho and Max Joarder.

Jed Steer will start in goal, with Declan Rudd confirmed between the sticks at Dartford. Cody McDonald, Owain Tudur Jones, Jamie Cureton, Adam Drury and Luke Daley are doubtful for Dartford, while Dejan Stefanovic is still some way short of a return to action.

Gary Doherty will be captain tomorrow, but has yet to be confirmed as the captain for the season.
