Green set for Reading run-out?

Rob Green could come up against Belarus in Reading on Thursday as England prepare for the World Cup in Germany with a B international.

The Canaries number one could line up alongside the likes of Michael Owen and Theo Walcott as England manager Sven Goran Eriksson takes the opportunity to look at some of his fringe players and nurse others back to fitness.

Green is expected to be third choice between the sticks, behind Paul Robinson and David James, but with everybody well aware of James' abilities and limitations, it would be wise for Eriksson to have a look at his understudy.

Green has already made his debut for the Three Lions as a substitute against Columbia last year, and if reports are to be believed he is keen to put himself in the shop window to secure a move back to the Premiership. The player himself has refused to be drawn on any such speculation before the end of the World Cup.
