Green Wins Sporting Gong

The 23 year old Canary Keeper beat fellow Canary Darren Huckerby to the award and was delighted if a little surprised that he had beaten Huckerby.

“I'm certainly surprised to beat Darren – that's for sure,” said Green, in a live interview afterwards, having beaten the likes of West Bromwich Albion's Jason Koumas, Swindon's Sam Parkin and Preston's Ricardo Fuller to win the text poll.

This is well-deserved recognition for Green who has been outstanding for Norwich in the last couple of years. I strongly believe he will be England's Number 1 goalkeeper within 5 years.

Green also signalled his intent to stay at Norwich and push for the Premiership with the Canaries.

“I'm happy to stay at Norwich,” said Green. “While we're heading towards the Premiership as we are, it's a good place to be. It's exciting times for the club right now and I'm enjoying every day.”

Robert Green and the Canaries will be looking to measure themselves up against Premiership opposition on Saturday when they take on Wayne Rooney (no relation to me I’m afraid) and Everton in the FA Cup.
