Green's World Cup fate revealed at 2pm

Norwich City Number One Robert Green will learn today whether he will be part of the provisional party, and probably the final 23, to go to the World Cup in Germany to represent England.

All eyes are on Sven Goran Eriksson, who will name a large group to cover all eventualities before naming his final squad at a later date. Names expected to be included despite injury concerns include Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen, while speculation persists over whether to include late runners for the squad such as Tottenham's Aaron Lennon, former Canary Dean Ashton or even Arsenal teenager Theo Walcott.

Green is likely to feature despite having missed the last few games of Norwich's Championship campaign through injury, and will almost certainly be the only player who plays outside the top flight, barring a surprise call-up for Crystal Palace's Andy Johnson or Sheffield Wednesday's on-loan Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson.
