Half Time: City 1 Ipswich 1

An energetic first half ended even at Carrow Road after Jimmy Juan's deflected free kick equalised a Jonatan Johansson effort.

Johansson, on loan from Charlton, marked his home debut with a goal after 33 minutes when he latched onto a sumptuous through ball from the returning Youssef Safri to lift the ball over Lewis Price in the Ipswich goal.

It was the same player who got the final touch onto the Suffolk side's equaliser when Jimmy Juan's free kick caught the side of Johansson's head and wrong-footed Robert Green.

Ipswich's Darren Currie twice forced diving saves from Green with the score at 0-0, as Town dominated the early stages while the home side took time to adapt to their new 4-4-2 formation. At the other end, Fabien Wilnis headed narrowly over his own bar. Robert Earnshaw had a shot on target early on, while Johansson forced Price to tip over a fierce drive on 28 minutes.

Town could have felt aggrieved to be behind when, moments before Finn Johansson broke free to break the deadlock, Matt Richards hammered the foot of Green's right hand post.

Zesh Rehman came close to a debut goal when the on-loan Fulham defender, starting in the centre of defence with Craig Fleming at right back, skied the ball over the bar from barely five yards out right on half time.
