Hucks: Am I Bothered?

Huckerby made his comeback on Saturday in Norwich’s 1-0 defeat to Real Mallorca and is defiant that he has no interest in what other people think of him.

"I'm not really bothered what people say – I'm past that stage now," said Huckerby, who has become a hero in Norfolk since his move from Manchester City.

"You know I've been around a long time now and I know that if I wasn't a half-decent player then I wouldn't be here now."

Huckerby gets particularly annoyed at people who criticise his scoring record at the highest level, claiming the amount of goals he scores is only part of his game.

"I think it's unfair when people have a go at me at my goalscoring record – I'm not just a goalscorer. My game's about more than that," said Huckerby.

Huckerby is virtually guaranteed a starting place in the Norwich team but he knows that with new signings being made, some of the players who figured largely in Norwich’s title winning season will miss out, and Hucks feels a degree of sympathy for them.

"There's going to four or five players who played all last year that look as if they won't get into the team and that's very tough on them. The supporters should remember what those players did for this football club,"
