Nigel Worthington's efforts to secure Norwich's promising young talent continued today with the news that Ryan Jarvis has agreed a deal up to the summer of 2008.

The striker, from Fakenham, has struggled to make an impact on the first team this season after a succession of injuries, but hopes to be involved in the club's Championship run-in now that the hopes of promotion have been extinguished. He also harbours ambitions of playing alongside his younger brother for the senior side.

Manager Worthington stressed that the door to the first team dressing room is open to Jarvis if he can fulfil his potential over the next couple of seasons.

“Ryan has had a difficult period over the last 12 months with injury, but we all know what potential he's got,” said Worthington. “This two-year contract extension offers him the chance to go and show what he's capable of and work towards a regular place in the starting eleven.”
