Max Gradel fired the visitors in front, with defender Leon Barnett grabbing a second-half equaliser for the Canaries in an entertaining clash.
Lambert, whose side have now drawn four in a row, said: "I thought it was a brilliant game and an excellent advert for the division from two teams who came up last season.
"I can't speak highly enough of my players, they were terrific against a very good Leeds side.
"I thought we started well but then Leeds scored with just about their first shot of the match and that set us back a bit.
"But we were a lot better in the second half, took the game to them and really peppered their goal. When we finally got the goal it was well deserved."
