Lambert- Fitness is the key

Norwich manager Paul Lambert stressed the importance of getting his players match fit after seeing his side go down 1-0 to Dagenham in a pre-season friendly. It means the Canaries have now gone two games without a goal - following their goalless draw at Football League newcomers Stevenage on Tuesday - with matches against Newcastle, Lincoln and Everton to come prior to their season-opener at home to Watford on August 6. Lambert told the club`s official website: "It was very tough. But the game is there to get people fit and match fit and we've got another tough game against Newcastle on Saturday. "We can't expect to turn up at any football ground and just get a result, albeit a pre-season friendly. The main thing for me is to get people fit and get ready for the Watford game." Lambert was, however, disappointed after his side - who rattled in 89 goals on their way to the League One title last season - failed to create too many clear-cut chances. He added: "First half, yes, but we did better in the second half. The main thing for me remains getting players fit, not picking up any injuries and getting ready for the Watford game and we've still got three games to go."
