But the Bees would have come away from Carrow Road with some reward for their considerable efforts had loanee Forster not made his string of excellent saves, the pick of them coming eight minutes from time to deny defender Kevin O'Connor.
"When you consider Fraser is only 21 it was an extraordinary performance," said Lambert.
"Some of the saves he made were world class and it got to the stage when you just thought he's never going to get beaten.
"At his age he is one of the best goalkeepers I have seen. I don't know who England have got at Under-21 level at the moment but I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending him."
