Beckford, 24, has been linked with the Canaries previously. As many inside and away from Elland Road, however, the striker might reasonably have expected to have achieved promotion with United.
Now that the former Champions League semi-finalists face a second season in the third tier of English football, however, the likes of Glenn Roeder will be keen to test the resolve of the highly-rated Beckford, who has scored 20 goals in 49 appearances for Gary McAllister's side.
