Leon scapegoats fans

Having demanded a move away from the club for footballing reasons, ex-Norwich striker Leon McKenzie has now come out and said that the motivations behind his transfer to Coventry were personal.

Indecisive Leon claimed in an interview to have wanted to be near his kids after splitting from his wife, but added that the reaction of some Canaries fans on his appearances after handing in a transfer request helped sway his decision.

Quite where McKenzie's family are based is the subject of some mystery after he discussed interest from old club Crystal Palace and Sunderland, as well as some 'cheeky' bids. In fact, the man who scored twice on his Norwich debut against Ipswich, earning permanent hero status, talked about every aspect of the move except having any affection for the club or fans he left behind.

It is clear that Nigel Worthington and Neil Doncaster, while having left the squad thin up front by selling McKenzie, have got rid of a player who was not only unhappy at Carrow Road, but could have gone on to undermine what seems to be fantastic spirit amongst the rest of the squad.
