Midfield poser for Worthy

The favourites for this year's Championship title face a severe shortage of fit midfielders for the Carrow Road clash with Coventry City.

Damien Francis has yet to complete his move to Wigan Athletic, but it is doubtful whether manager Nigel Worthington will select a player who has a limited future at the club and has spent the week negotiating with the Premiership newcomers rather than training with a side relegated from the top flight last term.

Youssef Safri has failed to feature in pre-season due to a hamstring injury. The weekend clash with his former club has come too early for the Moroccan to be a serious consideration for selection.

Jason Jarrett, seen by many as Francis' replacement and who was ironically signed from the club for which the Jamaican international seems destined, is also short of practice. Jarrett picked up a hamstring injury on the club's tour of Holland and has only 45 minutes in last Friday's defeat at home to Inter Milan behind him. Paul McVeigh and youngster Ryan Jarvis are also likely to be unavailable.

Two players likely to feature, however, are new signings Andy Hughes, from Reading, and Dean Marney, who joined this week on a season long loan from Tottenham.
