New coaching team takes shape

Former Sunderland, Fulham and Newcastle midfielder Lee Clark is in talks to become the first new permanant member of staff at Norwich in the Glenn Roeder era.

Clark, 35, is currently on the coaching team at St James Park under Sam Allardyce, having re-joined the Magpies in 2005 as player-coach. His last first team appearance came in a 1-0 defeat of Chelsea in May 2006, since when he has worked with the Newcastle first team and taken charge of the reserves.

The Geordie has been given permission to talk to Norwich and will hopefully join up with the side ahead of their Sunday lunchtime date with Ipswich. He would fill a gaping hole left by the departures first of Martin Hunter and more recently Jim Duffy.
