New Norwich manager - your guess is as good as anybody's

The list grows and shrinks by the minute. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was the most leftfield name to gather any momentum, a rumour quashed by David McNally, who curiously gagged the players following the 1-1 draw with Exeter.

Nigel Adkins of Scunthorpe was in the Mirror this morning, apparently no contact has been made according to their Chairman. Steve Tilson is said to have ruled himself out, but rumours persist this lunchtime that an appointment has been made.

The more 'exotic' names in the frame are those of Gordon Strachan, Steve Coppell, Alan Curbishley and Aidy Boothroyd. Aside from Strachan, I'd take any of them. I'd be surprised if we were this fortunate.

My thoughts, given the rumours surrounding Gunn's departure following a falling out with Ian Butterworth, are that an internal promotion will be the uninspiring decision. Messrs Butterworth and Crook were both yellow and green through and through, and would they miss the annual Christmas card from their former goalkeeping teammate?
