Norwich midfielder Andrew Crofts says his focus remains on playing for his club despite being on international duty with Wales this week. The 26-year-old will miss City's League Cup tie with Gillingham on Tuesday because he is in John Toshack's squad to face Luxembourg a day later.

He told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Norwich City's my bread and butter, obviously I'm looking forward to the Wales thing.

"But I can't wait to get back and play for Norwich again."

He added: "It's a hard one for managers because they want to keep their players."

The former Gillingham and Brighton man found the back of the net on his competitive debut for the Canaries on Friday night.

I think we're more than capable of doing well in this league. We've just got to forget about it now and move on

The personal achievement did little to lighten his mood though after their 3-2 defeat by Watford.

"We can't give teams easy goals like we did," he said. "But I think we're always going to score goals and we're a good a unit.

"It's not just the defence that defend it's the whole team."

After hosting the Gills, City travel to Scunthorpe in the league and Crofts hopes the Hornets defeat is consigned firmly to the past.

He added: "I think we're more than capable of doing well in this league.

"We came out positive in the second-half and we've got to start the first-half like that and keep building.

"We've just got to forget about it now and move on."

Meanwhile Zak Whitbread is unlikely to recover from a calf injury to feature against Gillingham.
