Nudge, wink, new striker?

Despite having constantly been linked with former charge Shola Ameobi, and confirmed former target Grzegorz Rasiak, it appears that Steffen Iversen, the former Tottenham and Wolverhampton Wanderers striker, will be the new Norwich number nine.

Iversen, 31, has 54 caps for his native Norway and 12 goals. He has been at Rosenborg since 2006 and featured in the Champions League group stages last season, scoring a winning brace in Valencia. His goal at the weekend fits with Glenn Roeder's description that his target 'had a good weekend for his club', while 36 league goals in 112 starts for Spurs shows he is a proven goalscorer.

Roeder has promised the Canaries fans, who saw their side waste a hatful of chances in their opening day defeat at Coventry, a new striker this week. They face MK Dons in the Carling Cup tonight before their first home game of the season against Blackpool on Saturday.
