One goalie stays, one leaves

Norwich City confirmed the continued employment of Bryan Gunn and his management team for the next season as they ushered the first of a potential exodus of players out of the door.

Scottish International goalkeeper David Marshall, seen as one of the Canaries' most saleable assets following their relegation, has wasted little time in joining Cardiff City for a six-figure fee believed to be significantly below the amount Norwich paid for his services.

The departure of Marshall increases the likelihood that some of City's younger goalkeeping stars like Declan Rudd may be given a chance next season, with Stuart Nelson having failed to feature since signing last summer.

There is also the chance that City will get a significant windfall from the sale of Peterbrough's Joe Lewis, who has attracted the attention of Portsmouth and Everton and who has a large sell-on percentage following his £400k move to London Road.
