One in, one out

Glenn Roeder beat off competition from the likes of Charlton Athletic to secure the signature of the player he rated as the best to visit Carrow Road last season.

Roeder, who maintains that he has yet to see any of his transfer targets move to another club, will surely build confidence in the Norwich faithful with his apparent ability to sell the Canaries over some of their Championship rivals.

Hoolahan was wanted by a number of other clubs including apparently moneybags QPR, while previous summer signing Sammy Clingan rejected the chance to stay at Nottingham Forest to move to Carrow Road.

Hoolahan has joined for an undisclosed fee with goalkeeper Matthew Gilks moving to the Seasiders as part of the deal.

Gilks was signed by Peter Grant last summer from Rochdale but has been unable to dislodge David Marshall for the number one jersey. With a number of talented young goalkeepers at the club, Roeder allowed Gilks to leave in search of regular first team football.
