New Norwich boss Glenn Roeder has shown the value of experience and contacts by bringing in defender Martin Taylor on loan from Premier League side Birmingham City.

Taylor, who earned the nickname 'Tiny' at his first club Blackburn, has joined on a loan deal until December 8th.

The 6 foot 4 inch centre back featured in the majority of Steve Bruce's sides matches on the way to promotion from the Championship last season. A number of new signings have meant he has fallen down the pecking order at St Andrews, and Roeder was pleased to have added the 27-year-old to his squad for the upcoming East Anglian derby.

"I am delighted to secure the services of Martin Taylor," the former Newcastle boss told Canaries.co.uk. "He is a player who I've followed throughout his career and he will be an outstanding member of the team while he is with us.

"Martin played an important role in Birmingham's promotion to the Premier League last season and he brings much-needed height in both penalty boxes."
