Safri speculation increases

The largest indication yet that Youssef Safri could be on his way out of Carrow Road came in the player's absence from the annual squad photo call.

Safri, who has been strongly linked with a move to West Bromwich Albion, and is also reportedly fancied by Charlton Athletic and Southampton, was a surprise absentee, and Norwich boss Peter Grant is expected to make some sort of announcement following tonight's warm up match with West Ham United.

The speculation this morning is that George Burley will complete a move for the Moroccan midfielder in the coming days, shipping out Jhon Viafara to Tony Mowbray's West Brom at the same time.

Grant has already bolstered his midfield with Julien Brellier from Hearts and Jimmy Smith from Chelsea, and yesterday added former Canary Darel Russell in a £600,000 move from Stoke City.

Safri would be following Jurgen Colin out of the door, with the former PSV defender having succeeded in convincing Ajax during a three-week trial that they should offer him a contract and part with around 100,000 Euros.
