Spitting allegations go to FA

A video was last night winging its way to Soho Square in London after the game's governing body decided to investigate the complaints of Luton Town about the behaviour of Dickson Etuhu on his Norwich debut.

The on-loan midfielder was involved in an ugly melee at the end of the match which ended up with visiting skipper Kevin Nicholls being shown the red card for gestures made towards home supporters. His manager, Mike Newell, claimed he had been provoked by Etuhu spitting in his face.

Nigel Worthington defended his new man vehemently, but the FA have decided to check video footage to see if there is a case to answer. With no news at this stage, and nothing on Sky Sports at the weekend to prove the allegations, it seems unlikely that any action will be taken. Nicholls, meanwhile, will serve a two match suspension for his dismissal, which followed Russell Perrett's second yellow card minutes earlier.

Etuhu, meanwhile, is in the squad for tonight's match with Millwall, with the Canaries, unusually for this injury hit season, looking set to remain unchanged.
