With the protracted signing of Crewe's Jon Otsemobor reported to be at the medical stage, Alex John-Baptise, a 21-year-old Mansfield centre back, is also said to have made visits to Norfolk with a view to completing a deal.
Like Otsemobor, John-Baptiste is out of contract at his current club. His age, however, means that a tribunal could be needed to decide a fee for the youngster, who Field Mill boss Billy Dearden has offered a generous new deal.
