Swap deal on the cards for winger

Preston North End have confirmed that Norwich are interested in midfielder Simon Whaley, and rumours are suggesting that Darel Russell could be involved in any deal.

Russell, along with Sammy Clingan, has been the subject of interest and looks certain to leave Carrow Road in the coming days. The identity of his suitors has yet to be revealed, but Preston boss Alan Irvine is thought to be an admirer.

With funds limited for Bryan Gunn to make his summer purchases, and money likely to be spent on a striker, a swap for a winger with the experience of former Bury man Whaley would suit, as well as removing Russell's wages from the books.
