Jonson, who is 30, played each of Sweden’s Euro 2004 games in their run to the quarter- finals. An undisclosed fee was agreed between Norwich and Brondby and Jonson cannot wait to get started.

"It's a big opportunity to show the club and the fans what I am all about," he said.

"I have a great feeling right now and I'm really looking forward to joining the team and hopefully I will play on Saturday against Mallorca.

"I was at the training centre today and was surprised to see how good it was. The people around the club have been great. It's a nice family club. You feel like you are coming home.”

Jonson will take over the number 9 shirt left behind by Iwan Roberts. He can play comfortably on either wing and can also operate as a striker. Nigel Worthington was delighted to get his man.

"I am delighted to have got Matthias to sign for Norwich City.

"He is an attacking player with great pace and good experience. He had an exceptional Euro 2004 and will add quality to what we've already got."
