Taylor deal close?

The man who was briefly public enemy number one in football circles could be about to move to Carrow Road on a permanent basis.

Martin Taylor, who broke the leg of Arsenal star Eduardo da Silva on his return to action with Birmingham following a loan spell at Norwich, incurred the wrath of a number of figures within the game for the horrific nature of his victim's injury.

The central defender, nicknamed 'Tiny' because of his six foot four inch frame, protested his innocence and received backing from a number of players and managers with whom he had previously worked.

At least one fan site is reporting that a deal is close for Taylor, who was priced out of a return to Norfolk in January when Glenn Roeder refused to raise his asking price in light of interest from other clubs that never materialised.

Taylor's subsequent banishment may have reduced both the number of suitors and his price, as will the Blues' relegation from the Premier League.

Taylor was brought in almost immediately after Roeder succeeded Peter Grant as Canaries manager and made a huge impact as results improved significantly during his loan spell.

The club have not confirmed any bid for Taylor or any hint of a deal, but FootyMad will be watching the wires with interest.
