Wes Rumours Resurface

Last updated : 11 January 2010 By Rick Lamb

The rumour mongers are having their fun with Norwich's announcement of £23million of debt today, with Wes Hoolahan apparently off to Middlesbrough to join Gordon Strachan's improbable march on League One.

Much in the same way as the immediate aftermath of City's finances being published saw Paul Lambert become the odds-on favourite to become Burnley's new manager, Hoolahan, who has been linked to the Riverside before as a replacement for Adam Johnson, is now too valuable not to sell, apparently.

Not the case, is likely to be the cry from Norfolk. The finances were known to those within the club when talk just a couple of weeks ago came round to retaining prized assets like Hoolahan and 22 goal Grant Holt.

The pragmatic approach seems to be that, barring a massive fee (and hopefully we're talking millions), the pair are more valuable to the club trying to get us out of League One at the first attempt. That's certainly the opinion of the talismanic Lambert.

I'm sure I could be wrong, but I wouldn't want to contradict Paul Lambert at the moment. Would you?
