Wigan defender to provide cover for crocked Frenchman

City boss Nigel Worthington has moved swiftly to cover the absence of full back Matthieu Louis-Jean by bringing in Wigan Athletic defender David Wright on loan.

Wright was originally linked to Carrow Road in the summer, when Jason Jarrett and Damien Francis moved in opposite directions between Lancashire and Norfolk. The former Crewe man will provide competition for Jurgen Colin, as well as potentially for the centre backs, with Calum Davenport's loan deal set to end after Saturday's clash with Luton.

Frenchman Louis-Jean, who arrived from Nottingham Forest when Gary Holt went to the City Ground, is expected to miss several weeks of action with an injury.

Wright becomes the second loan signing since the Canaries were last in action, joining another player from the North West, Preston's Dickson Etuhu, in contention for the weekend's clash with Mike Newell's side.
