The Canaries ended their first season back in the Championship in ninth place after a home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers, but manager Nigel Worthington was pleased with the way his side played.

Worthington saw his men play better football in losing than they have in recent victories, while inproved displays from hitherto underperforming players like Dickson Etuhu and the goals of Robert Earnshaw continue to encourage optimism for next season.

"I thought it was a good game and a good performance," said Worthington. "We passed the ball very well at times today and there were a lot of pluses.

"Our goalkeeper has practically had nothing to do and Murray as come in for his first game of the season and had a blinder.

"We have had a lot of positives overall and some good signs I was very pleased about. I'm disappointed to lose today but you don't always get what you want."
