Worthy confirms Jerome interest

Not satisfied with having one goal-grabbing England under-21 international at his disposal, Nigel Worthington is now openly on the trail of Cardiff City's Cameron Jerome.

Jerome, whose explosion onto the Championship stage this season has seen him bag 13 goals and be touted for a move to Liverpool, is the sort of pacy, powerful foil that Dean Ashton has missed in the continued absence of Leon McKenzie, and the Canaries boss is keen to bring him in.

“Cameron Jerome is one that we've made an initial inquiry about,” Worthington told the Norwich Evening News.

“He's a player that we very much like, but for now that's as far as it's gone. He would be a very useful addition to our current squad.”

Jerome, however, would not come cheap, and Bluebirds boss Dave Jones insists that it would take a bid of well in excess of £2million to tempt them to sell. City may still have some cash lying around from the Clinton Morrison deal that never was, however, and can not be discounted from springing a surprise after some of the ambitious moves of recent years, particularly the New Year captures of Darren Huckerby (alright it was Christmas) and Dean Ashton.
