Worthy makes enquiry for Clarke

Former Stoke City man Clive Clarke could be one of the first new names into Carrow Road this summer.

Norwich boss Nigel Worthington admitted making an enquiry about the versatile West Ham player, but tempered transfer rumours by revealing that little was likely to happen in the transfer market in the immediate future as most of the football industry is on holiday.

“Clive Clarke is a player we like,” Worthington told the pink 'un. “We are looking for extra numbers in certain areas and he is someone who can play at left-back and can also do a good job on the left-hand side of midfield.

“We have made an inquiry about him but that is as far as it has gone at the moment. We'll just have to be patient and see what happens on that one.”

Other names linked to a switch to Norfolk in recent weeks have included Everton's Duncan Ferguson, Carlisle hotshot Karl Hawley and Luton's World Cup-bound winger Carlos Edwards.
