Norwich's sixth straight home win may have been achieved in a roundabout way, but was still encouraging for their manager.
The Canaries were still 2-0 down with 13 minutes left but through a Darren Huckerby goal and a late Robert Earnshaw double managed to take all three points from a dead rubber. The result may be immaterial and fail to appease the boo boys, but the team spirit that has always been evident in successful periods under Worthington is still there with a vengeance.
This afternoon's match looked like adding fuel to the anti-Worthington fire and saw the increasingly antagonistic Carrow Road crowd appear to greet the visitors' goals either side of half time with glee. The end result would have sent them home with conflicting feelings, as it did the under-fire manager.
That's part of football and we have to live with it," said Worthington of the continuingly strained atmosphere. "I'm just pleased for the players because they have worked their socks off. They have had two tough games in the space of three days but the belief has always been there."
