Yobo raring to go with Canaries

Yobo is "ready to go" for his Norwich debut in Saturday's league clash against Manchester City, after joining the Canaries on loan from Fenerbahce.

The 33-year-old Nigeria defender revealed he rejected a host of offers from other countries to join Norwich, thanks to manager Hughton's persuasive argument.

"I'm excited that I had this opportunity to come back to England," Yobo told Norwich's official club website.

"It's probably the best league in the world, and it's a new challenge so I'm looking forward to it.

"There were loads of clubs from abroad who were interested in me, but the manager here convinced me and I wanted to come back to the Premier League.

"We had a week break for Christmas in Turkey but then two weeks of training after that and it was good, so I'm ready to go."

Norwich boss Hughton added Yobo to his loan acquisition of ex-Newcastle wideman Jonas Gutierrez.

Hughton's men sit 15th in the Premier League, just two points ahead of West Ham in 18th.

Itching to get started on his Norwich career, Yobo said: "I trained yesterday [Tuesday] but today it was with the whole squad so I'm happy to be here.

"I know a few of the players already, it wasn't entirely new to me but I felt welcome."
