Nicky Shorey opened the scoring with a free kick after just six minutes, with highly rated midfielder Steve Sidwell adding a second with a header ten minutes later.
Nigel Worthington will have felt his side were fortunate to be only two goals behind at the break but they fell even further adrift when Leroy Lita scored after 55 minutes. Bobby Convey completed the rout with just over 20 minutes remaining, moments after Jonatan Johansson had come off the bench for his Norwich debut.
