Norwich Team: Green, Sutch, Mackay, Fleming, Drury, McVeigh (Russell 90), Holt, Mulryne, Llewellyn (Notman 78), Roberts, Libbra (Rivers 88).

Unused Subs: Chricton, McGovern.

Worthington wisely chose to start the game with the 4-4-2 formation which was responsible for our thrilling comeback against Crystal Palace on Saturday with Libbra starting up-front alongside Iwan instead of Iwan being the sole striker in a 4-5-1 formation. Llewellyn started for the first time since he was injured back in August on the left-wing, with McVeigh switching to the right leaving no room in the squad for Nedergaard. Sutch started at right-back, with McGovern on the bench.

Mulryne got the game's opener in the 20th minute when Grimsby's defence failed to deal with a relatively straight forward cross and the Northern Ireland international was more than happy to stab the ball past Danny Coyne.

The second goal came in the 57th minute when Mulryne cooly converted from 15-yards out following a Marc Libbra cross.

However the score-line really should have been more convincing since the Canaries dominated the match from start to finish. Two minutes after Mulryne's opener Gary Holt came close to doubling the advantage, only for his header from a Paul McVeigh cross to get the better of Coyne but went narrowly wide.

A minute later an effort from McVeigh was in the back of the net but the referee disallowed it for offside. Grimsby tried in vain to beat the gale force wind and claw themselves back into the match but their most notable effort in the first half came courtesy of a 30-yard shot from Bradley Allen which went straight into the arms of Robert Green.

In the second half Libbra hit the cross bar and Roberts fired against the inside of the post with the ball somehow being scrambled away before Norwich doubled their advantage on 57 minutes.

The home team finally sparked into life for virtually the first time with 20 minutes to go. Michael Boulding used his pace to fire in a shot which the Canaries defence scrambled away. Alan Pouton blazed over the bar shortly after following good work from Menno Willems down the right flank.

The victory takes Norwich to fourth in the division, and, being that the leaders Wolves are only 2 points ahead of us, if we beat them on Saturday at Carrow Road we can conceivably go top :o)
